Public Service

Monique Bell Vernon is a Certified Public Manager with over 25 years of local government experience. She holds an MPA from Webster University and a BA from Dillard University.

Monique currently serves as Assistant City Administrator for the City of Selma and Assistant Business Manager at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Her previous experience includes service with Bexar County as well as the Cities of Del Rio, New Braunfels, San Antonio and Kirby. 

In addition to her role in public service, she is actively involved in the local community. Monique is a member of the San Antonio (TX) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated and is president of the Alpha Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® leading nearly 300 women.

Accolades include: Top Ladies of Distinction Public Service Award, South Texas HBCU Impact Award, San Antonio Blackbook Directory Honoree, Dillard University’s “40 Under 40” Alumni, San Antonio African American Community Fund Renaissance with the Stars Dance Champion, Who’s Who in San Antonio Women of Distinction, and San Antonio Business Journal’s “40 Under 40 Rising Stars”.

Monique strives to make a difference in the lives of others, beginning with her own son Kendall, a senior theatre arts major at the University of the Incarnate Word.
