Public Service

Renee Watson coordinates and monitors the County’s Small, Minority & Women-Owned Business Enterprise (SMWBE) Program, serving as the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Liaison and Title VI Coordinator.

She works to ensure SMWBEs have access to County procurement, contracting, and professional service opportunities, reviewing and recommending improvements to enhance participation.

Collaborating with the Purchasing Agent and other departments,  Renee refines procurement practices and expands opportunities across public and private sectors.

She is also a member of the Bexar County Manager’s Executive Leadership Team.

Renee holds a Master Contract Compliance Administrator (MCCA) certification from Morgan State University and is a nationally recognized expert, having led a Disparity Studies workshop at the American Contract Compliance Association Conference.

She earned a Master of Public Administration in Urban Planning and Rural Economic Development from Baruch College, CUNY, and a BBA in Management/Marketing from UT San Antonio.

Previously, Renee served as Chief of Staff for State Senator Rodney Ellis (Houston) and Councilman George Stevens (San Diego).

She has received numerous leadership and advocacy awards and is an alumna of several prestigious national leadership programs.
