
Dr. Maria Danet Lapiz Bluhm

Dr. Maria Danet Lapiz Bluhm is a Professor and Director of International Programs at the UTHSC School of Nursing.
A registered nurse from the Philippines with graduate degrees in Neuroscience and Clinical Investigation, she is committed to improving health outcomes for diverse, vulnerable populations.
She has led free diabetes, cardiovascular, and cancer screenings for over 10,000 people and held leadership roles in the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce, Philippine Nurses Association of San Antonio, and Asian Alamo Alliance.
Dr. Bluhm is President-Elect of the Texas Nurses Association District 8 and an Air Force Air Education Training Commander Civic Leader.
Nationally, she founded the Filipino American Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Network and the Center for Filipino American Health. Internationally, she launched the Virtual Global Health Hub and introduced patient safety strategies (TeamSTEPPS) in multiple countries.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and the Academy of Nursing Education, Dr. Bluhm is a published author and award recipient, including the Presidential Teaching Excellence Award and the Texas Nurses Association Outstanding Nurse Award.
