
Melissa Cabello Havrda

San Antonio District 6 Councilwoman Melissa Cabello Havrda, in her third term, is a dedicated public servant, attorney, and realtor.
She earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s University, a juris doctor degree from St. Mary’s School of Law, and a master’s degree in business administration from UTSA, also receiving the St. Mary’s Law GOLD COUNCIL 10 Under 10 Award.
With legal experience, working in the Mayor’s office, and mentorship from the late Mayor Emeritus Lila Cockrell, she brings a unique perspective to policy making, championing community issues like affordable housing, economic development, public safety, resilience, transportation, and infrastructure.
As Chair of the City’s Public Safety Committee and member of key committees, she shapes San Antonio’s policies, guiding the allocation of $26 million in ARPA funds for mental health support and securing $7.4 million for foster children in FY 2023.
She’s the first Latina to chair the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization.
Recognizing small businesses, the military, and corporate development as pillars of the city’s economy, she fosters equity, fairness, and job creation, prioritizing the well-being of vulnerable citizens, advocating for foster children, and supporting the special needs community.
