
Doris Slay-Barber
Education
Doris Slay-Barber, a lifelong resident of San Antonio, served as Second Vice President and First Vice President of the San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame before being elected President for the 2023–2025 term.
Her career in public education spans more than 41 years, and she is currently developing a curriculum and teaching technology to senior citizens.
Doris was recognized as a Distinguished Alumna for St Mary’s University in 2017 and has served as a University Trustee for more than 10 years, as well as Trustee Emeritus on the University Development Committee.
Technology has always been a fascination for Doris, and she helped develop software programs that are used to provide assessment and development for both the students and the educational staff in Texas.
Giving back to the community is her overarching mantra. She has served as an officer for several non-profit organizations, including the Texas Business & Professional Women’s Foundation, Texas Business Women of San Antonio and the LBJ Women’s Campaign School, with the goal of raising money for scholarships.
Giving back to the community also includes serving on the Select Credit Union board and numerous other organizations.
An avid gardener and world traveler, Doris spends her time enjoying country living with husband Gene. Three sons and their families provide plenty of opportunities for adventures and cherished moments with her two grandchildren.
