Brenda was Inducted in the health professions category in 2003 for volunteer leadership in the American Heart Association.
She was the first nurse elected president of the San Antonio Division of AHA, and also served as first nurse President of the Texas Affiliate of the AHA.
Brenda’s volunteer role as a cardiovascular nursing specialist was in advocating for women and heart disease research and programs.
She retired from the UT Health San Antonio School of Nursing as Professor Emeritus in 2014, and has enjoyed serving in several roles on the Board and committees of SAWHOF.
