Alejandra I. Villarreal received her JD from St. Mary’s University in 1979 and has recently retired from the full-time practice of law.

She began her legal career with her father, Raul Villarreal and also worked as in house counsel with corporate and governmental entities.

Alejandra has served in various volunteer capacities throughout her life, including Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Avance, Fiesta Commission, St. Mary’s University Board of Trustees, St. Mary’s University Law Alumni Association, State Bar of Texas Grievance Committees, Incarnate Word High School Alumni Board, the City of San Antonio Zoning commission and many others.

Alejandra currently serves as president of Nico’s Dream, a non-profit raising funds for pediatric cancer research and support for families affected by the disease. She also serves as a Director of Hispanas Unidas Texas, a non-profit that serves to empower Hispanic women through education, advocacy and community engagement.

Alejandra enjoys gardening, reading, genealogy and spending time with her family, particularly her five grandchildren in California.

She is currently writing a book about her father, who was one of the first Hispanic attorneys to argue a case before the Supreme Court of the United States.
