If you’re from San Antonio, chances are you know Rosalinda “Chayito” Champion, a prominent figure in the Flamenco world.

Born into a family with a rich Flamenco legacy, her parents, Teresa and Curro Champion, are Texas Flamenco pioneers.

Chayito embraced her heritage early, excelling in singing and dancing, and now carries the Flamenco legacy worldwide.

Her performances, acclaimed by the New York Times for her “haunting voice and mesmerizing presence,” showcase her heartfelt expression.

She’s toured globally, sharing stages with renowned artists like Jose Greco, Antonio Vargas, Teo Morco, and Pilar Rojas, at venues including Carnegie Hall, San Antonio’s Majestic, Empire, and Tobin Theaters. She’s performed for dignitaries like Pope John Paul II and the King of Spain.

As CEO of The Flamenco Arts Society of San Antonio, she’s dedicated to promoting and preserving Flamenco locally and beyond.

Committed to the arts, she’s involved in building “Jovenes Artes,” an after-school free arts program for at-risk children on San Antonio’s Southside, using Flamenco for artistic expression and wellness.

Continuing her parents’ legacy, she lives and breathes Flamenco, significantly contributing to its preservation and expansion.
